Grant Opportunities for Music Teachers

In searching for grants for our organization, your 2025–2026 Presidential Team came across several that would benefit our SWEA teachers and/or their students. Some of these opportunities might help defray the costs associated with attending our April 2027 conference. We have amazing educators in our group, and you and your colleagues deserve to be recognized and assisted! Please read below and consider applying for any that might fit your needs:

The Mockingbird FoundationMockingbird Foundation Grants

  • Apply from mid-June to mid-January; funds are awarded in June
  • Mostly for programs working with children
  • Gives instruments and equipment to groups and schools
  • Occasionally funds training for music teachers

NAMM FoundationNAAM Foundation Project Grants

  • Round 1 applications are due at the beginning of April, selected organizations for round 2 due at the beginning of July; funds are awarded at the end of September.
  • Assists community music programs that have 501(c)(3) status
  • Looking for high-quality, hands-on, relevant music-making and/or music-training that is a permanent part of an organization’s annual programming

CMAF Foundation Teachers of Excellence

  • Applications due in early-to-mid November
  • Nominate a deserving colleague or yourself for a Music Teacher of Excellence award! We certainly have numerous ones in our organization!
  • Nominee demonstrates exemplary teaching and student learning, and is constantly seeking opportunities to continue to develop themselves professionally

Fund For Teachers – Our Work – Fund for Teachers

  • Applications due in January
  • Funds individual teachers as they seek professional development opportunities 
  • Must live in the United States and teach full time at a public, private, or charter school and have at least three years of experience in the classroom

Wenger Corporation – Additional music education grants and tips on writing grants
